Song Survey

For our music video we have selected a number of songs that we feel would fit perfectly within our genre of music and also the type of music we are picturing to shoot. We have chose recent songs so we will need to find a good cover and hopefully be allowed to use their covers after we have asked permission. The songs we have chosen are similar to each, very slow and a light hearted melody also the lyrics talk about lost love or being in love which is typical in the indie genre of music we have chosen to do, so because they are so similar we thought that doing a survey and asking the public in what they think would be a suitable song to use as then we can look at their ideas and then discuss what the public would want to listen to.

The Last Unicorn by Passenger

Lovers Eyes by Mumford and Sons

Higher Love by James Vincent McMorrow

the main video that i thought would be best for our particular video would be lovers eyes as the concept of our is the relationship between to people, and the title "lovers eyes" instantly give the audience the idea that this video will be about two people, also this gives us more ideas to include in our video of using the couple within the video and how their relationship. I think using a Mumford and Sons song gives us a more wider audience to target with as it is a band that has an wider audience of all ages as their songs are folky yet indie at the same time which is listened to by a range of audiences.
All these videos have the elements of a video containing a love story between two people, however 'Lovers Eyes' goes through different beats and pace throughout the song going from fast to slow which will allow us to use different camera movements and edits to give the effect of  different moods that are in the song.

  1. I think the key thing here is to make sure you explain exactly why these songs are approrpiate. How do they encapsulate the genre within which you are working? What stands out for you? What elements are particularly relevant for your audience? How do you see the ideas developing into a clear brand/ identity for your product (the CD release) which will be memorable and have relevance for you audience?
